Chef Kieu Tran brings “Harbage the Little Creature” to Life!

Chef Kieu Tran, founder and owner of Chasing Wang, brought young author Leon Fried’s writing to life through cake. Chef Tran, an alum of the Made In New Orleans Foundation (MiNO), presented a demo via Instagram Live on May 21st. Leon was in attendance.

The story behind the cake was Harbage the Little Creature, about a creature who lives in a garbage can. Leon, a student in the after school program, was in first grade when he penned it. The story is in the hilarious collection of tales This Almost Went Well.

826 New Orleans is proud to be a community partner to MiNO, who works to support hospitality professionals of color. For the past two years they have collaborated to publish student writing on king cakes at Gracious Bakery, and they look forward to working together in the future.
